  • Installing Perimeter EPS Deck Forms

Ram-Snap secures your perimeter deck form, quickly and easily,
saving hours edge forming for EPS deck systems!

To secure a perimeter board, mark an elevation with a chalk line in the middle of the exterior block of the top form. With a drywall saw cut a vertical slot into the form above the line. Insert a Ram-Snap from the inside of the form and pull the tongue out 5" past the surface of the form. Repeat this step around the perimeter. Pour the wall. The Ram-Snaps are now embedded in the concrete wall and ready for the perimeter form. Using 3/4" plywood, dimensional lumber or both, drill 1/2" holes in the boards corresponding to the Ram-Snaps. With the Ram-Snap tool 3/4" away from the board apply pressure to the tongue and install the Ram-Snap clip.

Continue around the perimeter until all of the clips are in place. The perimeter form board is now ready to receive the EPS panel. The next step is to attach perimeter EPS to the top form by applying adhesive to the piece. Once the EPS is in place, locate the vertical rebar projecting from the top of the concrete wall; we recommend 1/2" or larger dowels on 8" centers. These dowels are necessary to secure floor system to the wall. Loop another Ram-Snap around the bar and drill a 1/2" hole through the exterior EPS and the plywood and/or lumber. Slide the tongue through the hole and set the clip. You will be able to straighten and adjust the form board by applying more pressure to individual clips. Your perimeter framing is complete! Don't forget to use Ram-Snaps on the top inside form to initially secure the ledger board. If you used Ram-Snaps for securing your wall bracing system, do not remove them if you are going to use vertical wall bracing under the ledger board. Simply reuse the Ram-Snap to secure the vertical 2 x 4 brace. Also, when removing the outside perimeter form, leave the lower row of Ram-Snaps in place. ( You can use these again for attaching your waterproofing membrane.)

Without question, this is the easiest and fastest method for securing perimeter form work.
